Dark Eyes 05:21
My darling dark eyes Sweet burning eyes Passionate splendid eyes How I love you How I fear you When I’m near you Verily I saw you at a sinister hour I see you dark eyes I see your flaming eyes They emplore me into faraway lands Where love reigns Oh where peace reigns Where there’s no suffering Where war is forbidden

They got a mind of their own, don’t you know You can’t lose control, before you know it, there’ll be five foals These are my horses There ain’t no better steeds I guarantee There’s no way you can disagree They’ll leave you in the dust, and ramble if they must But you gotta set ‘em free!

To be shooting craps Or laying cards Is of no concern to me My only concern Is whether or not its double or nothing Its full house or no house at all place your bets darling or fold and withdraw Coz when I roll out Nobody can bowl out its double or nothing If you must play Then you must know The rules of this house To keep your stories tall Load your craps Stuff your sleeves And hide your cards from me

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man, You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me, The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say, I don't share your greed, the only card I need is The Ace Of Spades Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil, Going with the flow, it's all a game to me, Seven or eleven, snake eyes watching you, Double up or quit, double stake or split, The Ace Of Spades (the ace of spades) You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools, But that's the way I like it baby, I don't wanna live forever, And don't forget the joker! Pushing up the ante, I know you gotta see me, Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again, I see it in your eyes, take one look and die, The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be, The Ace Of Spades

Night And stars above that shine so bright The magic of their fading light Shines upon our caravan Sleep Upon my shoulder as we creep Across the sand so I may keep The memory of our caravan You are so exciting You are so inviting Resting in my arms As I thrill to the magic charms Of you beside me here beneath the blue My dream of love is coming true Within our desert caravan

about

Three pairs of songs. Three pairs of tricks. Three pairs of bets.

Thrice A Pair is an EP that explores the new, bigger and more punk side of the Stolen Horses' music. The tunes are driven by the relentless Tzigan rhythm now featuring punk d-beats and a change from brushes to sticks on the drums.

We offer two original compositions that pay tribute to the gifted but troublesome horses themselves, as well as a groovy song that deals with taking risks in gambling and in life.

The old is bridged with the new by two covers. One of the flaming Tzigan traditional ‘Dark Eyes’, and the other of the monumental Motorhead classic ‘Ace of Spades’.

Two live tracks from the debut album round off the EP and pay homage to the birthplace and true home of the band, Railways Café, Centurion, South Africa.

Enjoy the music!
